What are the long-term effects of COVID-19?

Clinical Symptoms

A: There’s still a ton we don’t know about the lasting effects of COVID-19 on the body — Heck, the disease has only been around for 6 months!

The WHO reports that approximately 80% of cases are mild or asymptomatic.

However, among this group, thousands of previously healthy individuals don’t recover within the average 2 weeks and instead experience months(!) of life-disrupting symptoms including: intense fatigue, shortness of breath, body aches, confusion, hallucinations, memory loss, breathing difficulty, heartbeat issues, nausea, headaches, and fever.

In short, we are still learning about the course of the disease and its consequences, including lung scarring, blood clotting, strokes, heart disease, and neurocognitive functioning.
